Kristin Joy Humes splits her time between Telluride, CO and Santa Fe, NM where she exuberantly juggles her two children Zane and Ruby with work and other play. In addition to writing, she is a business consultant and a personal/ professional coach. Kristin spends as much time as possible in the mountains snowboarding, hiking and running or in the ocean surfing and swimming. Currently she is working on more stories about families, their quirky members and their otherwise unpredictable surprises.

She earned her Bachelors Degree in Philosophy at the University of California at Berkeley where she graduated with honors and as a four year Athletic and Academic All American. She has her Masters Degree in Psychotherapy from the College of Notre Dame and her MBA from the Anderson School of Business at UCLA.

As a kid in a small Kansas town, Loel Barr illustrated her own stories on Magic Slates, wearing them out at a rate that strained her parents' finances. After receiving an MFA in painting, she worked as an illustrator and designer for a New Zealand book publisher, then moved to Washington DC where she raised two children and freelanced for numerous clients, including The Washington Post, National Geographic World, and Time-Life books. She now lives in upstate New York with a couple of cats and continues to illustrate, draw, and paint up a storm.
